About A Weight Lifted

Capable hands. A listening ear. A steady plan.

A Weight Lifted helps older adults and their families navigate downsizing, relocation, and the many decisions surrounding a complex move.

We bring thoughtful coordination to the process while keeping the person—not simply the project—at the center.

Why it began

A personal understanding of what families carry.

Chelsea Sammons Founder and Transition Director

Chelsea Sammons built A Weight Lifted after helping her own family through illness, loss, and moves from long-held homes. Supporting both her mother and mother-in-law showed her how quickly the emotional weight, physical work, and unexpected costs can become overwhelming—especially for families balancing careers, children, and care for someone they love.

Those experiences shaped a simple belief: families deserve a clear plan and thoughtful support, with room to make considered decisions. Chelsea’s background in teaching, training, and process design shapes an approach that is both deeply human and exceptionally organized. She lives in North Dallas with her husband, their two young children, and their dog, Barley.

A thoughtful and organized approach

Human care, supported by a clear process.

A Weight Lifted was created to give families one steady point of contact: someone who can listen carefully, build a manageable plan, coordinate the moving parts, and help carry the process forward. We approach every home and family circumstance with discretion, respect for personal belongings, and thoughtful handling of private information.

Where we work

Support centered in Dallas.

A Weight Lifted currently serves Dallas, North Dallas, the Park Cities, and select surrounding suburbs.

When a move begins or ends in the Dallas area, we can help coordinate a long-distance transition with the family and providers involved on both ends. Because our hands-on work is centered here, each long-distance engagement is planned case by case.

We are continually expanding our service area as the business grows. If you are unsure whether your home or destination is within our range, start a conversation and tell us what you need.
